The Environmental Impact Report has been completed for the new Central Subway; phase II of the SFMTA project, whose mission is to increase the availability of efficient and convenient transportation in San Francisco.
Phase I was completed in April of 2007 with the completion of the 5.1 mile Third Street Light Rail from Visitacion Valley to Mission Bay.
Phase II of the transit project involves an extension of the light rail from 4th & King Streets, to Market St, then on through Union Square, China town, and hopefully finishing in North Beach. Keep posted for updates on this project.
