Have you heard of Grammercy Park in New York or perhaps Bloomsbury Square in London, but never South Park in San Francisco? Well, those in the know have been visiting South Park, in the South Beach area for quite some time; but to the people who aren't dog-walking inhabitants of South Beach or denizens of the dining establishments (South Park Café, 21st Amendment, Caffe Centro) it may be news that there is a stunning new residential condominium loft conversion project at South Park and 2nd St. A little history: the oval oasis was designed as a private park, under lock and key, in the 1850’s to replicate famous London squares. For that price, you, the lucky one, are pampered with a hermetically sealed environment of concrete, glass and stone. Most homes have highly cherished patios, pocket views of the Bay Bridge, or charming brick streetscapes. Many of the units also have a unique floor plan where the bedroom faces the Mondrian-esque interior courtyard. This arrangement allows the owners the opportunity to have a rather peaceful night’s sleep in the center of a metropolis. The living areas all face outward and the windows are stunningly arched and multi-paned. Other than that, these condos host all of the usual suspects (bamboo floors, sleek & shiny cabinetry, high ceilings) with a special shout out for the unique light fixtures. Unlike most South Beach buildings this one, thankfully, has no unnecessary amenities and thus the HOA’s are unusually low from $323-$480! This includes deeded parking, an elevator and that’s about all. But really do you need a media room when you can just watch South Park at 2am?
